Another long running controversy is that of fanboys and the “The Console War.” First, let me clarify on those terms. A “fanboy” is something who is beyond the typical fan of a platform. They are fans who do not question and praise everything about a company and their products, even if it is a bad thing. They also go out of their way to insult other fans of other platforms. the combination of all these fanboys arguing each other is what led to the “Console War.” It is these fans who argue which console and games are better.

This is not a new concept. There was a huge console war between fans of the Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis back in the 90’s. However, with the rise of the internet, the console war has not only been more noticeable,  but also more unsettling. People can by anonymous over the internet, and have sent threatening, sexist, racist, prejudice, and even death threats over the internet, just to defend a console or platform. People have been known to even call SWAT teams and lie about other people to try and cause harm.

I therefore talked to five “gamers” and see what they thought of all of the fanboy and the Console War culture.
