After spending hours upon hours with the humbly young talented actor Perris Drew, he wouldn’t hesitate to say he was destined to spread his message through the craft of acting.
Born in the small town of Kennett Pennsylvania Perris stayed surrounded by his close family and friends. Amazingly enough family kept Perris grounded at times, but at other times he was forced to think and act as an individual. Which forced this young boy to face adulthood at an early stage in his life. At a young age Perris didn’t believe he was destined to do much; but this boy always kept himself happy by doing the activities he loved.
Growing up Perris spent a great amount of time with his grandfather and father which he arguably said were his biggest influences in life. “My father always showing me how to perfect my work ethic and my grandfather always pushing me to express my artistic qualities.”
Perris was a major sports fanatic come middle school – basketball and football. Which wouldn’t come as a surprise to most, after seeing his athletic build. Perris was involved in a couple productions in middle school that lead him to the path he is currently walking down.
“I want to be a famous actor,” Perris joyfully announces to his immediate family. Therefore with middle school winding down his father was determined to help him live out his dream, and left him with an ultimatum. Going to a public school where all his friends were going, or auditioning for an arts school where he could perfect his craft. A decision like this for preteen who was majorly involved in football and basketball was not going to be easy.
Perris Drew making his debut at the CAB Calloway School of Arts his freshman year of high school. Perris practiced the fine arts of acting and music all the way up until graduation day where he was awarded Best Make Actor and the CAB Calloway Medal.
Always looking for a way to make his dream come true Perris knew the next place he was destined to be was a liberal / performing arts university. Searching, searching …searching and coming up short left Perris feeling defeated; but knowing he was destined to be a famous actor, he wasn’t going to give up just yet.
Ahhh! An audition has finally come his way form a small liberal arts school in the heart of Downtown Pittsburgh, Point Park University.
So the journey began to Pittsburgh and once arrived the city left Perris in awwwh. After only being in the city for a couple of hours …”The city gave me a feeling that I belonged here.” As Perris stated ,”I was basically accepted on the spot” over whelmed with joy the young actor knew he still had to wait patiently for a formal acceptance letter.
A couple weeks had flown by and the letter of acceptance had arrived and Perris did not wait one moment to claim his well-deserved spot; and that very next fall Mr. Drew would be a freshman acting major a Point Park University.
Point Park would be a new experience for Perris, but he was ready to embrace every step he was going to take until graduation day. So far Point Park has done nothing but help this young actor grow into the actor he knows he can be. Point Park executes this through their hands on and intense acting classes as well as productions. Being fortunate to partake in the Pittsburgh Playhouse productions as well as student films and student directed productions, Perris has learned a lot.
This young man is continually thanking God for allowing him to do what he was destined to do. Perris plans to reside in Pittsburgh after graduation where he plans to get in contact with an agency and start his career. In the near future he mentioned relocated to one of our better known cities in the States, Hollywood. I’m sure this won’t be the last you hear of Perris Drew!
