Balancing Act

Sophomore, Celina DiPietro started off her season with some slight bumps in the road. She was faced with a heavy concussion which didn’t allow her to play. The concussion not only affected her basketball life but also everyday life and academics. Her head was so bad that she could not attend classes or even do day to day activities. Although she had this major set back for this season, she came back stronger from it. As she is back in the swing of things with basketball, school, and life in general its hard not to reflect on the amount of work and practices piling up.

Being a student athlete requires more dedication than some people think. It is one of the biggest commitments to make, as soon as you sign the dotted line saying you commit and accept the scholarship money, your life is changed.

While there are many downfalls to being a student athlete, there are many more positive things to come with the title. Celina DiPietro weighs the good and the bad of being a student athlete and playing basketball at Point Park University.
